On the latest Meet the Movie Press, The Tracking Board’s Jeff Sneider revealed that the actor was offered the role of the villain in the still untitled sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming. In the video, which you can watch below, Sneider revealed around the 9:50-mark that Damon had been circling the role for the past few weeks. However, he ended up passing rather recently, although the reasoning behind the decision remains unknown. While Sneider isn’t entirely sure which villain Damon had been approached for, earlier rumors hinted at Kraven the Hunter’s inclusion in the forthcoming sequel. It’s unknown if that is still the case, though, as the recent casting breakdown doesn’t necessarily hint at which villain Marvel and Sony are looking to include. Casting is said to be open — both regarding ethnicity and gender — and simply states that the role will be a primary antagonist with “elevated ideas.” Sony and Marvel Studios are set to team up for the sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming later this summer, when filming is expected to begin — possibly overseas. The film will be directed by Jon Watts and will see Tom Holland return as the titular character. The untitled Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 is slated to hit theaters on July 5th, 2019. (via Screen Rant)
