RUMOR: Latest Justice League Dark Draft Includes Detective Chimp & More
Warner Bros.’ upcoming Justice League Dark film has lost two directors, but it may have gained five new oddball characters in the process. According to a new rumor, the latest draft of the film’s script includes cameo appearances by Detective Chimp, Doctor Fate, Black Orchid, Pandora and the Phantom Stranger at the Oblivion Bar.
ThatHashtagShow reports that the current script for Justice League Dark, penned by writer Jon Spaihts, involves a trip to Eddie Deacon’s pocket dimension bar Oblivion, which is visible only to those skilled in magic. There, the Shadowpact — a group of DC Comics’ magic-based heroes that includes the five aforementioned characters — will make a cameo appearance. However, they won’t interact with John Constantine and his fellow Justice League Dark members.
Since the film is still in development, there’s no way to tell if the Shadowpact will make it all the way to theaters. Even if they do make a cameo appearance, they could still end up on the cutting room floor. However, for the time being, it looks like Justice League Dark could introduce the Shadowpact to moviegoers.
Introduced in 2011 as part of DC Comics’ New 52 relaunch, Justice League Dark follows a group of supernatural heroes fighting magical and demonic threats outside the scope of the traditional Justice League. The team’s roster has included John Constantine, Madame Xanadu, Swamp Thing, Deadman, Zatanna and many more. While the team has never been adapted for live-action, a Justice League Dark direct-to-video animated film was released in 2017. Guillermo del Toro was originally attached to direct the live-action adaptation, with Doug Liman boarding after he left due to scheduling conflicts. Liman also stepped down because of scheduling conflicts.
Justice League Dark does not have a release date.
