RUMOR: Reeves’ Batman Film May Take Place in the DCEU’s Past
Though not much has been revealed about director Matt Reeves’ upcoming Batman movie, a new rumor claims that the film’s story will take place in the DC Extended Universe’s past and draw inspiration from a comic book storyline that was teased in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
According to the latest rumor from ManaByte, Reeves’ movie will explore Bruce Wayne’s life after the death of Robin (presumably Jason Todd, the second Boy Wonder). When contacted by CBR, Warner Bros. declined comment.
Robin’s death has already been teased twice in the DC Extended Universe. Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice implied the death of a Robin by revealing the sidekick’s costume with graffiti on it, presumably left by the Joker. David Ayer’s Suicide Squad expanded on the tragedy by revealing that Harley Quinn was an “accomplice to the murder of Robin.”
The rumor claims that Reeves’ first Caped Crusader movie won’t exactly be an adaptation of the “A Death in the Family” storyline, which is the classic story where Jason Todd is violently killed by the Clown Prince of Crime. Instead, the rumor speculates that the film will address the toll that Jason Todd’s death takes on a young Bruce Wayne.
Written and directed by Matt Reeves, Warner Bros.’ as-yet-untitled Batman film does not have a release date at this time.
