www.cbr.com/batman-movie-update-matt-reeves/Batman Movie Is Going ‘Really, Really Well,’ Says Matt Reeves More than a year after taking the reins, director Matt Reeves insists development of The Batman is going “Really, really well.” The War for the Planet of the Apes filmmaker stepped behind the camera in late February 2017, succeeding Ben Affleck, who was originally set to co-write, direct and star in the planned Warner Bros. project. His departure was followed by delays (the movie originally pegged for 2018 release) a new script and plenty of questions, not the least of which is whether Affleck will still star as the Dark Knight. Although Reeves spoke about The Batman in broad terms while promoting War for the Planet of the Apes, he’s been relatively quiet in recent months, popping up only occasionally on Twitter to swat down a rumor that he’s leaving the film or to offer no hints at all about its antagonist. But this time, in response to the question, “How is it going on The Batman?,” Reeves had a little more to say. Seeing as The Batman has undergone a lot of changes since it was (prematurely) announced by Warner Bros. in April 2016, this reassurance will undoubtedly will no doubt be welcomed by fans, who’ve experienced quite the roller-coaster ride over the past two years: Even before stepping down as director, Affleck had cast repeated doubts on everything from the title to the production timeline to whether there actually would be a Batman movie.
