Rumor Suggests That an ‘Alien’ Franchise Television Series Has Found a Streaming Home
While it’s important to note that this has been a rumor every step of the way, we did hear earlier this year that 20th Century Fox was planning on potentially expanding upon the Alien film franchise with a television series, which is a sensible move given the current iteration of the film franchise hasn’t proven to be much of a hit with audiences. Perhaps a move to the small screen is just what the franchise needs right now? It may indeed be happening.
YouTube channel Mr. H Reviews is claiming this week that an inside source has tipped them off to the fact that the rumored Alien TV series is coming. “This source is very reliable,” the channel assures. “They have told me that the Alien TV series is definitely happening. It has found a streaming service. There is no other information outside of that.”
This is interestingly all timed to the first film’s 40th anniversary – and a recently launched contest in which Fox is asking fans to create their own “Alien Universe short film”. In early 2019, six videos will be selected as winners… could this be the lead up to something massive?
Of course, Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox could spell doom for the Alien franchise, but perhaps new projects will be set into motion before all of that is finalized.
