Warner Bros Inks $100M Co-Financing Deal With BRON For Six Films, Including ‘Joker’& ‘The Mule’
Warner Bros and BRON Creative, the joint venture between BRON Studios and Creative Wealth Media, have sealed a $100 million co-financing deal for six movies, starting with the Clint Eastwood thriller The Mule that opened last week.
The deal will make BRON’s Aaron L. Gilbert and/or Creative Wealth’s Jason Cloth executive producers on the films. The Warner Bros titles in the deal include the Joaquin Phoenix-starring Joker and Ben Affleck’s Torrance, and New Line Cinema’s Isn’t It Romantic, The Kitchen and Superintelligence.
BRON Creative previously co-financed New Line’s The Good Liar, directed by Bill Condon and starring Helen Mirren and Ian McKellen. It has a to November 15, 2019, release date.
Warner Bros has been looking for co-fi partners since discontinuing its slate-funding relationship with RatPac Dune. That company, formerly run by Brett Ratner and James Packer, financed a portion of just about every recent Warner Bros film except JK Rowling’s Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts films.
“Aaron and the team at BRON have been great partners with us on The Good Liar and we are happy to continue our partnership on these additional films,” said Toby Emmerich, chairman of the Warner Bros Pictures Group.
BRON Creative’s past producing credits include Sony’s Roman J Israel Esq, Paramount’s Fences and Lionsgate’s The Spy Who Dumped Me and A Simple Favor. Up next is the Tom Hanks-starrer Greyhound which has a March 22, 2019 release date.
“I’m excited about expanding our relationship with Warner Bros,” said Gilbert in a release announcing the deal. “They have continued to be great collaborative partners and we feel they have put together a strong curated group of films for the global market.”
Added Cloth: “The performance of Warner Bros films speaks for itself. This is a studio and team with an unequivocal understanding of how to make and deliver hits. It’s a wonderful privilege to be partnered with an iconic brand that boldly continues to evolve, create and champion storytelling at the highest level.”
The co-financing deal was negotiated by Cloth and Richard McConnell on behalf of Creative Wealth Media, Gilbert for BRON supported by BRON’s Steven Thibault and Adam Davids, and by Endeavor Content.
