Surprising perhaps no one, Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War has been rated PG-13 by the Motion Picture Association of America, for “intense sequences of sci-fi violence and action throughout, language and some crude references.”
Every Marvel Studios film thus far has received a PG-13 rating, and it certainly doesn’t affect the box-office receipts. Black Panther, the most recent installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, earned its PG-13 rating for “prolonged sequences of action violence, and a brief rude gesture.”
Infinity War has already sold more advanced tickets than the past seven MCU films combined. It’s tracking toward a $200 million-plus opening weekend in North America, which means the film would join four other Marvel films with $175 million-plus debut weekends: The Avengers ($207.4 million), Black Panther ($202 million), Avengers: Age of Ultron ($191.3 million) and Captain America: Civil War ($179.1 million).
