Tyler Posey Wants to Star in Batman Beyond Live-Action Movie
Teen Wolf alum Tyler Posey reveals he would love to star in a live-action film based on the animated series Batman Beyond.
Headlining all six seasons of MTV’s Teen Wolf, Posey also lost out to Taylor Lautner for the role of Jacob Black in the Twilight series. However, the 26-year-old actor has now set his sights on playing a different type of hero.
While promoting his new horror movie Truth or Dare, Posey was asked by Screen Rant what he thought about his Teen Wolf co-star Tyler Hoechlin playing Superman on The CW’s Supergirl. He confessed his own aspirations to play a superhero, saying, “I always got … Remember Batman Beyond? I loved Batman Beyond! That’d be fun, man, I don’t want, I don’t want to get too old before I got to pitch it.”
Posey puts himself forward to play Terry McGinnis, effectively the next generation of Batman in a futuristic imagination of Gotham City.
Airing from 1999 to 2001, Batman Beyond had an impressive 52 episodes over three seasons, plus the award-winning TV movie Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker. The acclaimed series brought back a grizzled Bruce Wayne in his twilight years, as he trains McGinnis as the next person to pick up the cape and cowl. Featuring fan-favorite characters like Barbara Gordon and Superman, Batman Beyond also introduced a whole host of new characters.
Interestingly, a Batman Beyond movie was pitched in those missing years between Batman & Robin‘s 1997 failure and the return of the Caped Crusader with Christopher Nolan’s Batman Begins in 2005. The project was put on hold in 2001, and little has been heard about it since.
With an upcoming appearance on the third season of MTV’s Scream and a part in the horror movie Truth or Dare, Posey hasn’t let the end of Teen Wolf stop him from carrying on a Hollywood career. He certainly has an impressive resume, and the physique to play the acrobatic McGinnis, but at a decade older than the animated version of the character on Batman Beyond, is Posey a little too old for the part?
