The Suicide Squad: Idris Elba Might Be Playing THIS Character
Although he was initially expected to take over the role of Deadshot from Will Smith, Idris Elba was later revealed to be playing an entirely new character in James Gunn's The Suicide Squad. Recent rumors indicated he might play Deathstroke or Sportsmaster, but a new report says differently.
According to Forbes, Elba might be playing Benjamin Turner/Bronze Tiger. Created by Dennis O'Neil, Jim Berry and Leopoldo Duranona, Bronze Tiger made his first DC Comics appearance in 1975's Richard Dragon, Kung Fu Fighter #1. He's a martial arts master that was at one point brainwashed by the League of Assassins. He eventually went on to become a superhero.
Bronze Tiger has a long history with the Suicide Squad, having been Amanda Waller and Rick Flag's first recruit. He serves as second-in-command on the team. Michael Jai White played the character on CW's Arrow.
Gunn will be directing both Guardians of the Galaxy 3 and The Suicide Squad. The Suicide Squad will star Margot Robbie, Viola Davis and Jai Courtney, all reprising their roles from the first film, with John Cena reported to appear in the film as well. Joel Kinnaman will likely, and as the report from Forbes indicates, reprise his role as Flag.
