If you’ve been hoping for the return of Marvel One-Shots, those short films included with Marvel Studios’ home releases between 2011 and 2014, you’re definitely not alone. Disney is pushing for the fan-favorite bonus features to make a return as well.
“We’re just so busy,” Marvel Studios Co-President Louis D’Esposito told Entertainment Weekly. “Disney wants us to do it, we want to do it, and I keep telling them, ‘I’ll do it on the next film,’ but I keep breaking my promise.”
The One-Shots debuted in 2011 with “The Consultant,” starring Clark Gregg as Agent Coulson, released with Thor, and continued that year with “A Funny Thing Happened On the Way to Thor’s Hammer” (Captain America: The First Avenger), “Item 47” (with 2012’s The Avengers), “Agent Carter” (2013’s Iron Man 3) and “All Hail the King” (2014’s Thor: The Dark World).
Although “All Hail the King,” in which Ben Kingsley reprised his role as Trevor Slatterly from Iron Man 3, was the last official Marvel One-Shot, the studio has released other short films, such as the comedic “Team Thor,” which revealed what the thunder god was doing during the events of Civil War, and a sequel, “Team Darryl,” in Jeff Golblum’s Grandmaster moves in with Thor’s ex-roommate.
