www.cbr.com/joker-origin-movie-working-title-revealed/The Joker Origin Movie's Working Title, Revealed Over the last month, news has been buzzing about the Clown Prince of Crime receiving not one, but two live-action movies from Warner Bros. One is a Jared Leto-led Joker spin-off that draws from 2016’s Suicide Squad. The other is a Joker origin story directed by Todd Phillips (The Hangover) under a new Elseworlds-like banner that is not associated with the DC Extended Universe. Now, it has been revealed that the working title for the Joker origin story film is “Romeo.” Todd Phillips’ Joker origin story film will begin production this September in New York. The movie has slated Joaquin Phoenix as the lead choice for the Joker, but the studio has yet to confirm his involvement. Currently, several positions at Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment are being shuffled. Just last week, Geoff Johns stepped down as DC Entertainment’s Chief Creative Officer, the position now given to Jim Lee. Johns now has an exclusive writer-producer deal with the company, launching Mad Ghost Productions. Johns is writing the screenplay and will be a producer on Green Lantern Corps and is an active writer and producer for both Aquaman, out this December, and Wonder Woman 2, out November 2019. Perhaps these changes will prompt a positive shift for the DCEU, which suffered a massive blow last November in the form of Justice League‘s lackluster box office. Nevertheless, within the next couple of years fans will have much more of Batman’s greatest nemesis, the Joker, on the big screen
