Donald Glover Tweets 15-Page ‘Deadpool’ Script, Says Was Not “Too Busy” For FX Series
Donald Glover tweeted today that he was not “too busy to work on Deadpool,” despite some press speculation that his busy career might have contributed to FX’s decision to abandon the project.
Glover even posted 15 pages of an unproduced Deadpool script about the fictional cancelation of the show within the show – a response to the show’s real axing.
The tweets follow FX’s still-fresh announcement that Glover, his brother Stephen, the network and Marvel Television have parted ways and would not proceed with the animated series. FX made the surprise announcement on Saturday, noting that “Due to creative differences, FX, Donald Glover, Stephen Glover and Marvel Television have agreed to part ways on Marvel’s Deadpool animated series. FX will no longer be involved with the project.”
FX made no reference to Glover’s busy schedule.
The Glover brothers were initially intended to write the series and serve as its showrunners and exec producers.
In today’s tweet, Glover begins, “For the record: I wasn’t too busy to work on Deadpool,” an introductory tweet that’s followed by the 15-page manuscript. The episode follows Deadpool in Africa as he attempts to save the last existing male northern white rhino.
In one particularly self-referential section, Deadpool ponders the cancelation of his show:
FX had no comment on Glover’s tweets.

The project, an adaptation of the hit Marvel character, received a 10-episode straight-to-series order last May to premiere in 2018 on FX Networks’ comedy-focused FXX. According to sources, Marvel did not agree with the Glovers’ vision for the show based on scripts written by Stephen Glover. FX supported the brothers, who have a deal at FX Prods., so FX, with Donald and Stephen Glover, pulled out from the project.
Titled “Finale,” Glover’s script can be found here:
